Bible Here
Bible Here
Bible Here is an online Bible reading website I built to combine reading, searching, and lightweight interaction in one browser-based experience. The goal is simple: make Scripture easier to access without requiring an app install or forcing users to jump between separate tools. If I had to pick my favorite feature, it would actually be the search, not the game.
From the homepage, the site already exposes three clear entry points: Bible reading, verse search, and a book-guessing game. The experience is intentionally direct and low-friction, so it works well for daily reading, verse lookup, and small teaching or learning scenarios. I specifically designed the search flow so you do not need to press a separate search button. While you type, the matching results update automatically.
If you want a shorter article-style introduction first, you can read this companion post: Bible Here article
One important note for English readers: the current site supports Chinese Union Version text only. It does not include an English Bible translation at this stage.
Key Features
1. Bible Reader
The site supports browsing across the full Old and New Testaments, with direct chapter-based reading.
- Browse all 39 Old Testament books and 27 New Testament books
- Navigate by book and chapter
- Jump into a specific verse context from the reading flow
2. Verse Search
This is the part I like most. The site is not limited to page-by-page reading. It also includes a dedicated search flow for locating verses, and it is designed to respond before you click anything.
- Search Bible verses by keyword
- Search results refresh automatically while you type
- Includes an advanced search entry point
- Useful for thematic lookup and finding familiar passages
3. Guess the Book Game
Bible Here also adds a lightweight interactive mode instead of staying purely informational.
- Show a verse and let the user guess which book it comes from
- Works as a Bible knowledge practice tool
- Adds a game layer to reading and learning
4. Reading Utilities
This is one of the parts I care about most, because it turns the site into more than just a text viewer.
- Reading settings are available from the reading page
- Users can add bookmarks and review bookmark lists
- Supports selecting verses
- Supports exporting a full chapter
- Includes previous and next chapter navigation
5. Bible Statistics Overview
The homepage also surfaces high-level Bible structure data for quick reference.
- 66 books
- 1189 chapters
- 31102 verses
- Overview of Old Testament and New Testament distribution
What This Project Tries to Solve
Many Bible sites are strong at either reading or searching, while interactive features are often separated elsewhere. Bible Here aims to provide a more unified entry point where users can:
- read chapters
- search by keyword with live-updating results
- bookmark passages
- practice Bible knowledge in a simple interactive format
That makes it more practical for personal devotion, Bible study, and family use in the browser.
Who It Is For
- People who want a fast online Bible reader
- People who need to look up specific verses
- Users who want to learn Bible books through interaction
- Anyone who prefers a browser-first reading and bookmarking workflow
